What is a Learning Styles Profile?
It is an online questionnaire that helps you discover how your child learns best by identifying 5 aspects of their learning style. It will give you learning strategies to help increase comprehension, memorization and retention. It will also provide you with assignment ideas and curriculum suggestions based on your child's learning style.
What are the benefits of taking the profile?
It gives teachers, parents and learners a similar framework and language to use in creating an individualized education plan. It also allows parents and resource consultants to better match curriculum and learning opportunities to a learner's unique style. It is empowering for learners to increase their awareness about how they learn best which can help solve learning problems.
What kind of feedback will I get from the profile?
After completing the profile, you will be able to access the report that explains your child's disposition, talents, modalities, interests and environment. This report has specific information explaining each one of these 5 areas and gives specific recommendations for utilizing these to create the most successful learning environment.
Who should take the profile?
The profile is available to all Surface Creek Vision learners and parents. To sign up, fill out the request form and send it back to Paige Lieberman at surfacecreekls@gmail.com.
How much does it cost?
The online profile costs $25 for students or $50 for each family. We also have a paper profile for K-2 learners for $15. This will come out of the learner funds. The cost for Non-Vision learners is $10. This must be prepaid with a check made out to Surface Creek Vision.
How do I sign up for one?
Talk to your Resource Consultant and tell them you are interested. You can ask them for a request form or download it. After you send the form in, the Learning Specialist will sign you up. You will then receive an e-mail with a user id and password and instructions on how to access the webpage. If you have a K-2 learner you can ask your RC for a paper profile.
